Newseum
Visiting the Newseum
The Newseum is a relatively new addition to the Washington, D.C. museum scene. A transplant from Arlington, Virginia, the Newseum opened its doors in D.C. in 2008. This interactive museum, dedicated to news and journalism, has quickly become one of D.C.’s favorite attractions.
While you’re planning a trip to the D.C. area, don’t forget about your airport transportation. Affinity Airport Sedan, Inc. is a prompt, professional service that can get you where you want to be.
About the Newseum
Near the National Mall, the Newseum is conveniently located in the center of the city. It gives visitors a seldom seen, behind the scenes look at what goes into making the news. The museum was created “to help the public and the news media understand one another better.” In doing so, the Newseum gives the public access to little-known information about what makes the news work.
The Newseum boasts fifteen galleries that hold permanent exhibits. One of the most popular is the Today’s Front Pages Gallery. This exhibit is changed daily and displays the front pages of 80 newspapers from around the world. In addition to maintaining numerous exhibits, fifteen theaters show everything from public debates to artistic performances. And two working TV studios show visitors how a new studio operates.
Make the most of your Newseum visit
The Newseum is seven levels high and designed for visitors to start at the top. While you’re up there, make sure to check out the amazing view of the Capitol building. With seven levels, there is a lot to see. Make sure to plan for at least four hours touring the museum. And lastly, keep in mind that not all exhibits are suitable for young children. It’s recommended that children be ages 12 and up.
