About Montgomery Village

Two years after the incorporation of The Montgomery Village Foundation in 1966, Whetstone Community Center, Whetstone Elementary and Montgomery Village Middle schools opened to the public. The Village Mall built in 1970 is now the Village Shopping Center situated along Montgomery Village Avenue. Holiday Inn on Route 355 opened in 1971 while the first bus service to Washington DC started in 1973. At present, Montgomery Village is home to over 40,000 people. It is part of the ”technology corridor” where employment continues to increase. Within the Village are scenic parks, gently sloping hills, and crystal-clear lakes. The residential place attracts young people, families and elderly folks.
