Popular Bethesda Landmarks

One of the city’s most popular landmarks is the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. This is the largest military medical center in the nation and where the President gets his annual physical.

Bethesda is also home to one of the Madonna of the Trail monuments. In all, there are 12 monuments, located across the country, dedicated to pioneer women of the United States. The statues symbolize the strength and courage of the women who forged through the wilderness to settle America.

And golfers will like that Congressional Country Club, one of the world’s most prestigious country clubs, is located here. Congressional has been the host of four major golf championships, including the U.S. Open.

Things to do in Bethesda

Check out a show at the Strathmore. An artistic venue in North Bethesda, the Strathmore Music Center seats nearly 2,000 and presents over 150 performances yearly. From jazz, pop, blues, folk, country, classical, and show tunes, there’s something for everyone at the Strathmore.

Get a little fresh air on the Capital Crescent Trail. This 11-mile trail stretches from Georgetown in Washington, D.C. to Silver Spring, Maryland.  More than one million walkers and bikers make use of the trail every year.
